Discussion Questions for The Queen Is Dead
Mar. 7th, 2013 11:31 amI'm here with my discussion questions for The Queen Is Dead!
1. Well, let's start with the end as I often do: Will Snow kill Cora? Will they go there? Or will she try but be stopped or stop herself before she can? Will she try and kill someone else by mistake?
2. So I guess Cora is everyone now? Were you fooled by her Blue Fairy impersonation? And let's note that Snow immediately told her mother what had happened after promising to tell no one.
3. Will we see that candle again? I vote yes and wouldn't be surprised if it is a plot point in the next episode. If Snow were to try to kill Cora and get someone else by mistake it would be interesting if she had to use dark magic to fix it.
4. Regina's hatred for Snow has been revealed to be a multi-generational vendetta. What happened between Cora and Eva? Are they family or rivals? Perhaps Cora lost on being queen to Eva, possibly when she broke a deal with Rumpel?
5. 'Have you ever considered that maybe, perhaps, I am good. I was always the queen. It was you that added evil to my name.' Completely delusional or justified? Or somewhere in between? She did deliberately murder at least one person and had a heart wall before anyone called her evil.
6. Where WAS Leopold? I know the actor was busy but still. If the writers are trying to sell us a devoted or even somewhat caring husband and father they once again just made him look creepy and uninvolved. And should we talk about how Eva was barely cold in her grave before he was wandering about looking for a new bride?
7. On the Hook and Gold side, HOW DID he find Gold? NYC is very big!! Cora clearly would not have helped him since it's hard to control the Dark One if he's dead and Gold put a protection spell around his shop so Hook could not have looked at the globe.
8. Bae knows Hook and can sail his ship. Clearly he has been to Neverland and now no one ever again needs to talk about how he could possibly still be alive centuries later. Time travel would have worked for me but this works too and gives him a more complicated backstory.
9. Dagger: real or not? The map was a fake. Belle wouldn't need one in the first place (if she had her memory *g*) and certainly wouldn't make it so easy to find. However, the dagger was really well hidden so that may be real. But then the question is why Gold was willing trust Snow and Charming not to use it against him AND to keep it away from Cora? They failed at both!
10. As far as Hook's ship goes, it seems as though they are playing by the same rules as last season. There is no NEW magic (ie Gold healing himself) outside of magical areas but magical items and magical spells remain magical wherever they are. In the same way Gold's love potion and the apple were magical in the World Without Magic, Hook's ship is magical even outside Storybrooke's borders.
11. And Cora: done with her or you hope she'll be around in the future to to cause pain and mayhem again?

1 and 3. I'm having a theory that Mr. Gold will die and then Snow will use the dark candle and trade Gold's life for Cora's, hence Prince David's reaction "what did you do?".
6. Yes! Where WAS Leopold. ;3;

1&3. I do like that theory! Snow using dark magic to kill Cora and save someone else would darken her soul but not too much.
6. Heh. And they deliberately wrote so it was clear he was missing.

Re: 10 about Gold and magic, I thought it was that Gold had lost his magic because he had to take off the scarf? Because he had his memories before in Storybroke, so the scarf was never about keeping his memories but rather his magic. And because he couldn't heal himself in the bathroom after punching the wall, that was a sign that he'd lost his magical powers....and he's only been telling everyone that losing the scarf would result in him losing his memories because if they really knew he'd lost his magic, well, then he would be vulnerable
Or at least, that's what I thought they were trying to convey?

10. No, they made it clear that whatever magic you have stays within the borders or Cora and Regina could find a way to leave with their magic intact. Gold said several times, including to Belle who he trust completely, that the scarf keeps him from losing his memories. And he was extremely angry to find out about the memory loss barrier in We Are Both - there was no mention of magic there.
Anyway he did have curse memories. It's just that he got his FTL memories back as we met him and he met Emma in the Pilot. (hence the need for her name) I'm quite interested to see him pre-Emma in his full cursed state. We have an idea since he was playing that character for season 1 but there is difference between pretending and actually being Mr. Gold.

And if he's been to several worlds, how did Rumple know where to find him? If Bae has been to magical worlds, he could have reached him more easily, too.

Date: 2013-03-12 07:11 pm (UTC)8. Perhaps that is what took so long? If Bae kept moving from world to world then Gold would always be a step or two behind him. Gold did say that Bae had been running for a very long time and was adept at it. It doesn't matter if you can easily get to a magical world if you didn't know he was there and you get there too late.
